EASTER PREPARATION FOR THE CLERGY OF VARANASI DIOCESE
March 16-17, 2016
The priests of Varanasi Diocese gathered at Nav Sadhana for the Recollection Talk in view of preparing them for Chrism Mass and Meaningful Easter Celebration on March 16, 2016. The talk began at 9.30 a.m. in the main chapel and the preacher was Rev.Dr. Peter Ignatius, SJ. He spoke on the theme MERCY OF GOD. He stressed the need of immersing in the history of the place and in personal history to taste the mercy of God. History is changing and is inevitable. He pointed out the mother’s labour pain is symbol of the pain of the Lord Jesus Christ to bring forth the new creations. When the disaster sets in, God comes to rescue. When humanity obstructs, God intervenes and removes the block, and shows mercy. The more one makes blunder and owns it, the wiser he becomes. God does not see the past, looks at the present and the change of heart for better life. The more I see in my history the mercy of God, the more I see God as mercy. We see God only in darkness of life. He spoke on the theme BAPTISM INTO PRIESTHOOD with practical and personal examples. The talks were well appreciated and accepted. On the second day the Most Rev. Eugene Joseph chaired the meeting and conveyed the need of focus on family, empowerment of laity and youth, dialogue with other religions, education, and the new norm of the Maundy Thursday Liturgical Services.
