“What is most important is the ability lovingly to help the children grow in freedom, maturity, overall discipline and real autonomy. Only in this way will children come to possess the wherewithal needed to fend for themselves and to act intelligently and prudently whenever they meet with difficulties (AL 261)”, stated Most Rev. Eugene Joseph in the inaugural address of the members of diocese of Varanasi Catholic School Association in the Milan Hall on August 20, 2016 at 9.30 a.m. He further stated that education includes encouraging the responsible use of freedom to face issues with good sense and intelligence. It involves forming persons who readily understand that their own lives, and the life of the community, are in their hands, and that freedom is itself a great gift (AL 262). The Resource Person for the meeting was Dr. Neelkhanthan, Psychologist and Counselor for teachers, parents and children and founder of Dr.Neel’s Healing Centre, Mumbai. The theme was MASTER HUMAN PSYCHOLOGY FOR EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP. He pointed out that a child’s approach to a problem or changing behavior is usually related to or one’s behavioral personal effectiveness is the result of presence or absence of one’s continuous upgradation of capabilities and competencies. He further stated that teachers are mediators and mentors of students, parents and society; begin the day powerfully and prayerfully; live a life of sincerity, integrity and fidelity with knowledge. To achieve leadership excellence in teaching and mentoring, one requires to have teaching skills and administration skills, human psychology, leadership skills and analyzing performance of one’s teaching; The ultimate purpose of life is to lead a happy and healthy life.
