Nav Sadhana conducted a Course on Canon Law for Priests and Religious working in North India from Jan 19 to 21, 2018. The Resource Person was Fr. Anthon Paul SDB, an experienced person in Canon Law and well versed in effective communication.
He demonstrated an advanced understanding of the development of Canon Law and how it regulates dioceses, parishes and religious institutions and the sacramental life of the churches, as well as its teaching functions; He specially focused on canons dealing with the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and marriage.
The course helped the participants to reflect on matter and form for the validity of sacraments; canonical requirements for general absolution, the lawful and valid marriage celebrations; discuss the irregularities in exercise of orders.
I chose to attend this course on Canon Law because, I should be aware of the laws regarding the administration of various Catholic teachings and doctrines,” Fr. Dolphy said.
“After this course, I now have a deeper appreciation and understanding of the Church’s teachings on various issues,” he added.
As many as 20 priests and nuns engaged in formation of seminarians and young nuns in various parts of India attended the course organized by the Regional Pastoral Centre.
