SUMMER COURSE OF MUSIC AND DANCE : MAY 06- JUNE 10, 2019

The summer course of Music began on May 10, 2019 and lasted till June 02, 2019. The Resource Persons for Tabla were Mr. Rakesh Edwin and Ms. LakhmiThe Resource Persons for Harmonium were Mr. B. Tiwari and Sr. Laetitia. Each participant had his/her own instrument according to the choice of the course. The course was inaugurated with a short prayer and welcomed by Rev.Dr.WilfredMoras, Director. As the course was intensive, they practiced till 10.00 p.m. with enthusiasm, fervour and vigour after the regular class of the day. All of them were eager to learn as early as possible. The consequence is that they played harmonium and Tabla within a week during the liturgical celebrations to enhance the liturgy. At the end of the course on June 02, 2019, they staged a programme with classical and semi-classical music. The Chief Guest was Dr. ShipraDhar. She applauded highly the commendable service rendered by the missionaries to develop the talents of young children and youth of the nation utilizing the holidays of the students. She was totally absorbed in the programme and surprised that the children could learn so fast and praised the commitment and devotion of the teachers, who taught them music. She also praised the clean, green and serene campus of NavSadhana. She also promised that she would arrange a free medical camp for the students of NavSadhana.

The summer course of Dance began with the inaugural session and a welcome note by Rev. Fr. Wilfred Moras, the Director who also introduced the teachers and explained the purpose of the course with its objectives. The course lasted till June 10, 2019. The participants were all together 210 in number. The Resource Persons for Bharatnatyam were: Ms. Sapna, Ms. Purnamaya, Ms. Surabhi, Ms. ArchanaMasih, Ms. Pallavi, Ms. PoojaKumari, Ms. AsmitaLakra, Ms. Salma, Ms. NaincyKeshari, Ms. Sonam, Ms. Pooja Rani, Ms. David, Ms. Ankita. They were all students of Kala Kendra, College of Music and Dance, Varanasi and their Guru. Bharatnatyam students took pains to prepare the liturgy in a meaningful way. Procession to the Grotto of Our Lady, the recital of the Holy Rosary was a regular practice during the entire course. After the Rosary, they staged dances based on Hymns to Our Lady. It was a joy to see the budding artists performing with zeal and zest.

The classes came to the culmination with DeekshantSamaroh on June 9, 2019. The young artists presented the classical, semi-classical and folk dances such as Marathi dance, Punjabi dance, Prayer dance, Patriotic dance and Fusion dance with fine tune and perfection. Rev. Fr. Wilfred Moras, Director welcomed the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Mahindra Paul, Superior General of IMS, Mr. M.P. Singh, SP Rural and the august audience. The Chief Guest appreciated the budding artists for their remarkable, scintillating performance. He also wished the budding artists to continue to practice what they have learnt to master the art of dance. The Guest of Honour was thrilled to witness this brilliance performance of the students and he congratulated the teachers and the staff for this wonderful performance. The third year students completed the course and received the certificates. Many parents, sisters, fathers and well-wishers were present for the concluding ceremony.
