A course on “On-Going formation of Catechists and Catechetical Sisters” in Hindi began in NavSadhana, Varanasi on 02nd September.
The first part of the course titled “Sacraments” was conducted with audio-visual aid by Fr. Thomas Kaithaveli, of the Archdiocese of Nagpur from Sept. 03 to 05, 2019. He inculcated in the participants, love for the sacraments. He spoke on various topics such as Gospel proclamation, prayer, catechesis, Eucharist, etc.
The participants expressed in their informal conversation that the course gave them courage, confidence and conviction to proclaim the Gospel without fear and increased their knowledge of the sacraments.
The second part of the course was on “The Social teachings of the Catholic Church” conducted by Fr. Raymond Cherubim SJ. There were many nuns along with the catechists. He stressed on the Church’s mission and social doctrine, seven principles of social justice, human right and the Constitution of India. He exhorted the catechists to face adverse situation for the evangelization and proclamation of message of the Lord with zeal and vigour. The winning attitude comes from awareness of the Lord Jesus Christ being with them always to assist them and with a positive attitude. Hence, it is said: Entire water of a sea can’t sink a ship, unless it gets inside the ship; similarly negativity of the whole world can’t put you down, unless you allow it to get inside you.
The participants expressed that they had benefitted from the course; Method adopted was theory and practical; it was lively, simple, interesting, thought provoking and enlightening. It helped them to renew their zeal and zest, verve and vitality to continue the mission of Christ entrusted to them. They were grateful to the Director and staff, especially to the domestic helpers for the delicious dishes and timely food as well as the spacious accommodation with a sense of cordiality and hospitality. They returned to their respective places with a heart full of joy and satisfaction.
