SUMMER COURSE OF MUSIC AND DANCE May 1- June 5, 2014

As usual the summer course of music and dance was organized by NavSadhana Regional Pastoral Centre in view of promoting the young talents, developing dormant, innate skills, cultivating discipline and religious values.

The summer course of Music, i.e. to say the Harmonium Course and Tabla Course began on May 1, 2013 and lasted till May 28, 2014. The Resource Persons for Tabla were Mr. Rakesh Edwin and Fr. SwarajC.V.. The Resource Persons for Harmonium were Mr. B. Tiwari and Bro. MuktiPrakash. Each participant had his/her own instrument according to the choice of the course. The course was inaugurated with a short prayer and welcomed by Rev.Dr.V.Sebastian, Director on May 1, 2014 at 6.30 p.m. As the course was intensive, they practiced till 10.00 p.m. with enthusiasm, fervour and vigour after the regular class of the day. All of them were eager to learn as early as possible. The consequence is that they played harmonium and Tabla within a week during the liturgical celebrations to enhance the liturgy. At the end of the course on May 27, 2014, they put up stage programme with classical and semi-classical music. The Chief Guest of the day was Prof. S.S. Kushwaha, Retired Vice Chancellor of Ranchi University, Ranchi and former Professor of KashiVidyapeeth, Varanasi. He applauded highly the commendable service rendered by the missionaries to develop the talents of young children and youth of the nation utilizing the holidays of the students. He was totally absorbed in the programme and surprised that the children could learn so fast and praised the commitment and devotion of the teachers, who taught them music. He had also praised the clean, green and serene campus of NavSadhana. He stated that he could experience vibrations of peace and joy in the campus.

The summer course of dance began with the inaugural session welcomed by the Director who also introduced the teachers and explained the purpose of the course with its objectives on May 15, 2014 at 6.30 p.m. The course lasted till June 5, 2013. The participants were all together 201 in number. The Resource Persons for Bharatnatyam were Sir Vengadesh, Ms.Sandhya T, Cathren Paul, Amita Raj, Aisha Rahi, NehaKeshari, KanchanPanna, ShivaliParas, Tanya Sharma, Chitranshi, Magdalene Blyth, PinkiPramod, NidhiCharls, SnehalataKushwaha and Anita Tigga. They were all students of Kala Kendra, College of Music and Dance, Varanasi and their Guru. These young, energetic, dynamic resource persons were very much involved with the students in every aspect of their life. They were diligent in teaching and guiding the students in their respective fields. They had love for the students and love in teaching them. They were friendly and cordial to the students. The students of dance were enthusiastic and co-operative. Hence, they were vibrant, alert and active in the class in spite of the scourging heat. They were very creative and dynamic in their performance during the creative liturgical celebrations everyday either during the Eucharistic celebrations or Rosary. Thus they enhanced liturgy. They were punctual for the dance, disciplined in behavior. It was a delight to see them dance well elevating the mind and heart to God. They had stage performance at every week end and enjoyed D.J. at times. The classes came to the culmination with DeekshantSamaroh on June 4, 2014. The young artists presented the classical, semi-classical and folk dances with fine tune and perfection. The Director welcomed the Chief Guest Dr. Madhu Astana, Principal of ShriAgrasenKanyaautomonous Post Graduate College, Varanasi.
