Msgr. Eugene J., Administrator of the Diocese of Varanasi, gathered the teachers and principals of schools working in the diocese of Varanasi at NavSadhana on Aug.23, 2014. The resource person for this august gathering was Rev.Fr.RobertAthickal, SJ, Pioneer, Founder and Director of Tarumitra, Patna, Bihar, to speak on the theme Universal Cousinship and Eco-Spirituality as well as to drive the point to love the nature and to be custodian of the nature. He stated that every creature in the universe is created for a definite purpose and they do their service to the universe. We are all related to them and each other. He stressed that it would be good to use less electricity, which will lead to inhaling of less toxin to maintain good health. He used the example of Miss SwetaMarandi episode how she saves one and half mega watt electricity per day through a campaign support of 15,000 students.
The participants have drawn the action plan as follows:
- To plant more trees in the school premises and in the vicinity through the help of the students.
- To save electricity in the schools and in houses through the help and support of students.
The seminar was well appreciated by the participants. They were all together 124 in number. The hospitality and cordiality of the Director and staff of NavSadhana was well appreciated by the participants.
