SahbhagiShikshan Kendra (SSK) organized a programme in the Milan Hall of NavSadhana to celebrate the international self-reliance day on Nov.5, 2014. There were 325 people from Varanasi, Bhadohi, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Ghazipur and Jaunpur districts to participate in this celebration. The objective of the SSK is to promote girl child education, women empowerment and women functional literacy. The theme of the day was women leadership and promotion of girls’ talents. The chief guest of the function was Dr.Fr.V.Sebastian, Principal, NavSadhana Kala Kendra, Post Graduate College of Music and Dance and Director, NavSadhana Regional Pastoral Centre, Varanasi. In his speech he stressed the need of desire, direction, dedication, discipline and devotion to progress in life and to achieve the set goal. The BDO of Harahua, ShriGopal Kumar stated that ShikshaRakshakartihain (Education leads to safety). The young girls put up street plays conveying the message of protection every girl child and to work against dowry at marriage. It conveyed also to respect life and to love every child, as well as to avoid exploitation of women on the basis of sex, caste and poverty. They sang songs and performed dances. The programme was concluded awarding prizes for the committed workers in the field.
